We regret to announce that Montana Suzuki Institute 2022 has been cancelled. Check back here in January 2023 for information on future MSI events.
Montana Suzuki Institute 2022
July 17-22
The student programs are designed to enrich, challenge, and inspire young musicians and their families. Enrollment is open to students at the pre-twinkle through concerto levels, pre-school age through graduating high school senior.
Students are grouped together with others of similar abilities for the Core Suzuki classes (repertoire, master, and technique). Depending on their age and level, students may also take one or two enrichment classes or workshops. These are designed to expand their musical horizons and provide challenges in related disciplines.
All students ages 12 and under must attend MSI with an adult chaperone. The Suzuki Method stresses parent participation, and so a caregiver or parent should be on campus with children (under 12 years), taking notes and learning with them, particularly in the three Core Suzuki classes. Students 12+ years should have a way to contact their parents ASAP should an emergency occur. Parent participation in Master Classes is also highly encouraged for these older students.
If a parent has multiple young children in attendance, it is recommended to pair up with another master class parent who can take notes for your child, as we understand you cannot be in multiple places at one time! Please Contact Us if you are interested in parent-cooperative childcare to assist you with care of siblings of your Suzuki student(s).
A student will get the most from the Institute experience if they take part in all activities offered, in addition to the main instrument classes. Recitals and discussions are open to, and free for, parents attending the Institute. See the full Student Schedule here.
